Filling Station BBQ

Great food. Good price. Very friendly atmosphere. Fast service. Nice Texaco items as their decor. Still a great place. We stopped again this year.

The service was really fast and the food was delicious. The potato salad has a unique flavor that I really enjoyed.

This is a very unique restaurant. It is located where an old gas station was at one time. They keep the decor of the place to reflect the time period when it was a gas station. They even have one of the old pumps outside to add to the theme. It is family owned and operated. They are friendly and keep customer care a priority. The food is good as well. It is the type of food you would expect from a bbq restaurant. The service is also relatively quick and there is very little waiting time.

A Kansas City tradition to have BBQ at an old renovated gas station. I went with the pulled pork and sweet potato fries. The fries were nice and crispy on the outside with a fluffy inside (like they are supposed to be). Seasoned just right. The pulled pork was succulent and had great flavor on its own without sauce. I love the older forty's style diner mixed theme with some really interesting nostalgia thrown on the wall. Major kudos for not playing xmas music. The place was very clean and quiet. The service was super fast and friendly. While I didn't get a smile with my order, I wasn't yelled at halfway across the parking lot begging for my order either (Gates BBQ is famous for that). The spicy/hot BBQ is just right for me. They also have a regular and a sweet sauce. Looking over the menu, there was also an option for carolina style (thinking might be moonshine or similar, didn't try it). Smelled great walking in the door. An excellent place to take a date for BBQ.

Meat is very good. Customer service could be better. They were busy- great for my neighborhood place! BUT no smiles and my onion rings were burnt. They shouldn't have sold them this way!

One of the best spots in the city/region for BBQ. Not only delicious food, but memorable ambiance inside historical gas station building also adds to the experience.

Love love love love love this place! So cute and quaint! The employees are amazing, helpful, and polite. The food is spectacular. It’s seriously so good, I was so impressed. I’m not a coffee connoisseur but I thought it was delicious. They have cute merch and it’s a great sunny atmosphere.

Very nice place to eat. Very clean. Exceptional atmosphere. Friendly workers. Reasonable prices. Excellent tasting BBQ. Great BBQ sauces already on the table. The French fries have a very light seasoning, blended perfectly with the light salt. Will most definitely eat here again soon!

Great food, great little place to eat. I had the pulled pork sandwich. If the bun was warm and/or grilled, it would have been that much better.

Had a pulled pork here last week. It was great. Made me wish I were around here more often, it gives KC Joe's a run for it's money, it may even be better (based on my sample size of 1). The place is very small. It is a converted gas station, and that gives it a nice charm that you don't find at most places.

This place is a little trip to the past. It is literally built in an old gas station. Sweet twist on the name "The Filling Station". It's decorated with signs from the past that will bring back many memories of a simpler time of life, ie our youth. That is if your an old Geezer like me. It even has the old gas pumps out front, just like they were in the early 1950s. Now to the bbq! I actually prefer this place above all the more celebrated name's you have heard of in the Kansas city area. Not because of any high ranking contests or advertising hype but the simple taste and quality of the food. It's also cheaper than the so called big boys it compets with. It has only one Glaring short coming! NO BEER!!! So I would suggest you think "To Go Please " It's Worth It!

Really wanted to give 5 stars. Ordered the $20 family meal with 1 lb of meat, a side and buns. The food is VERY GOOD and this is likely a place where it makes more sense to sit in and eat.I got pickup and the food was cold by the time I got home (about 5 minutes). Nothing was warm. Had to ask for BBQ sauce and what we got was very little. I don’t know I just expected a decent tub of BBQ sauce on the side as a given with pulled pork but maybe that’s my bad and not a normal thing but I don’t understand the concept of ordering bbq and not getting sauce. The sauce is very good though. I asked for ranch for the fried appetizers but (pickles and mushrooms) didn’t get it. Forgot our buns. We will try again in a few months to see if the service improves. Really great tasting food but portions are tiny for the price and service left us disappointed...

They use another company's sauce, the fries aren't that great. But the burnt end sandwich was delicious and the fried pickes were pretty darn good even though I prefer pickle chips over spears.

We enjoyed the BBQ and especially the baked beans last night. We have a tradition that on our son's birthday we go to a different BBQ of his choice. We were not disappointed on his choice this year. We will definitely be back. Thanks for making this a successful birthday for him!

Staff were polite. Food was really good. Place was cute. And you can eat outside they have tables you can sit at.

Interesting place but rib tips are not the real thing. Crumbled up dry meat. Missing all the fat and everything that makes it good. I'm not on a diet when I eat ribs. Although, the ribs are very good

Very good food..beans are great..poppers were also good..had beef and brisket sandwiches and was very good..I went to your web site to look at your menu and could not read the left side of menu..Anyway you can email me a copy of your menu.

Brisket a little inconsistent. Cold and warm. Tough and tender. In a 1lb order. Slight smoke ring but little smoke flavor. Regular sauce has best flavor. Beans are sweet with rib tips mixed in ( they were a little tough). Friendly service. Decent price for the offering.

Not bad! I had a pulled pork sandwich and potato salad and it was great. The meat was tender and seasoned well. I will say I didn't eat the bun...it was already a bit soggy by the time I got it. Otherwise, try it out!

This place is awesome! It is a very unique setting and the decor feels like an old time diner. We ordered our food and it was brought out to us fairly quickly. Everything tasted great! The fries have a perfect crunch. Will definitely return with friends and family!

Great bbq, if you're a meat lover you must make a pit stop at bbq restaurant. The food is delicious and the restaurant it self is a cute old gas station.

Best Ribs I have ever had in my life! Hands down. Not necessarily fall off the bone but no need to bite down and pull hard, it's just perfect.

I've eaten here twice in two weeks, burnt end sandwich was fantastic, lunch specials have been great and come with a side and drink.

It was a little pricey but well worth the money and drive. We go to Church in Lee's Summit but I would go back on any day of the week. I had a burnt end sandwich which was very filling and I could not even finish my side. The fried pickled were good and I'm not a sweet potato fry person but I tried one of my husbands fries and it was good. I mixed the spicy and sweet Bbq sauce which has the right amount of heat.

All I got was the fries and omg...dip them in the bbq sauce and you have a meal 😁

My company had a Christmas party that everyone voted to have bbq for the meal. We had the Filling Station cater the event. The event was for 210 people. Their prices were the best in town and provided more at a lesser price than their competitors in the area. Their customer service was great as they provided me with the information I wanted to know and what I needed to know that I was not aware of. They delivered the food to the event also helped us set up the food station which was beyond the scope of what I paid them for. Excellent food everyone loved it. For the first time having to party plan for a large event like this the Filling Station made me look like a hero haha I highly recommend this place to anyone doing a large event.

Really great pork. The food is what you would expect for more than what it is priced. Excellent and quick service. Atmosphere had a wonderful nostalgic feel and it was nice eating in a historic site with a car enthusiast style.

Not the best bbq in KC but it's very very good and definately worth going to. The atmosphere is super cool and theres something very nostalgic about it. Also the prices are pretty reasonable for bbq in kc. Sadly my one criticism is the customer service seems a little lacking. I think I came in at a bad time and the woman working there seemed to be in a very bad mood. It could very well have just been a one off though.
